The wood chipper PL-180 is a disc-type chipper designed for shredding wood waste and processing wood, capable of transforming branches, tree crowns, logging residues, rails, and bark into wood chips. At the output, a fraction ranging from 5 to 60 mm is obtained, and its size can be adjusted by adjusting the knives of the cutting disc. The processed material is ideal as fuel for screw-feed boilers, and the technological wood chips, obtained after additional processing, are used for pellet and fuel pellet production.

The wood chipping machine PL-180 consists of a body, cutting device, disk, hydraulic system - mechanism for feeding wood, and a hose for discharging wood chips. The unit is attached to the rear three-point hitch of the tractor.

Wood processing waste is fed into the receiving hopper, where toothed rollers are located. Rotating, they pull the wood into the working area with the cutting disc. The disc is equipped with knives. The rollers are driven by two hydraulic motors. The drive of the cutting disc is activated by the tractor power take-off shaft, with a rotation frequency of up to 1000 rpm, through a cardan transmission. The input diameter of the wood should not exceed 180 mm. The output fraction thickness ranges from 5 to 60 mm, depending on the adjustment of the knives on the cutting disc, which can be easily done by opening the top cover.

While rotating, the cutting disc shreds the wood into chips, which are expelled by an air stream through the hose. The hose rotates 360 degrees, allowing the adjustment of the chip expulsion direction, and the ejection distance is regulated by the deflector. The maximum ejection distance is up to 4 meters, allowing for chipping wood directly into a trailer. For safe operation, the input hopper is equipped with a protective curtain to shield the operator. The drive can be stopped using the control unit. In case of necessity or emergency, it is also possible to stop the feeding rollers using the control frame of the distributor.
